For 2021, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects to ship 30-40% of the total iPad with mini-LED displays and 20-30 % MacBook shipments.
LG Display is reportedly preparing to supply Apple with a mini-LED display for the new iPad models to be launched in the first quarter of 2021, followed by the MacBook and iMac.
According to Korea’s ETNews, LG Display is set to mass produce its mini LED display for the new iPad model, which will begin by the end of this year.
The report states that Apple may release six devices with mini LED displays by the end of 2020, with the Covid-19 epidemic seeming to have pushed back that time.
Upgrading to a mini-LED display can give the iPad Pro higher brightness, better contrast ratio, and better power efficiency and also the iPad Pro already offers a 120Hz refresh rate, so moving to a mini-LED screen would be a logical next upgrade for Apple to make their Pro tablet.
