Lava Mobile to launch new ‘Made in India’ smartphones on January 7

Indian smartphone brand Lava has announced the launch of the ‘Made in India’ smartphones next year on 7th January. The brand has been teasing the launch of new smartphones on its official twitter handle for a few days, and now it has revealed to organize an online event next month. Anyone can view the live stream of the event on the company’s Facebook and YouTube channel on January 7th at 12 noon.

Lava has been making entry-level phones so far. The brand has just introduced BeU smartphone in the country with Android 10 Go Edition at Rs. 6,999. 

Lava BeU Specifications:

Lava BeU, a dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone, runs on Android 10 OS (Go edition) and comes packed with a 6.08-inch HD+ (720×1,560 pixels) display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen display comes with the protection of a 2.5D curved glass and features a water-drop notch. The smartphone comes powered by an octa-core SoC clocked at 1.6GHz, paired with 2GB of DDR4 RAM. It packs 32GB of internal storage that is further expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).

In terms of Optics, Lava BeU features a dual rear camera setup that features a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.85 lens and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The phone also comprises an 8-megapixel selfie snapper at the front, with an f/2.2 lens.

Lava BeU, on the connectivity front, includes options like Bluetooth 4.2, 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device measures 155.5×73.3×9.82mm and weighs 175.8 grams. It packs a 4,060mAh lithium-polymer battery and also offers a fingerprint sensor at the back.

With the roll-out of these new smartphones, the company will make a comeback in the budget-friendly smartphone segment in India. Lava hasn’t yet disclosed the names of the devices. But the teaser hints that one of the smartphones will sport a water drop notch screen and a black back panel. Currently, Lava International is only focussing on the Indian budget customers and it is expected that the upcoming phones will be priced under Rs. 15,000 in the country.

Lava may release some more teasers on its social media channels to hype the roll-out of the phones, so we should get more details in the arriving days.
