LG Rollable might be the name of the first smartphone with a rollable display by LG Electronics. The smartphone can be the part of LG’s Explorer Project which spotted the debut of LG Wing 5G as the first device. As per the fresh report by ET News, it has not only authenticated the details of this device but also claims that it will go official in the first half of 2021.
LG has launched a wide range of smartphones this year but it skipped to launch a flagship phone. As per the latest report, LG will be back in the flagship forum with a phone given codenamed as LG Rainbow. Moreover, it is also expected to launch LG Q83 as a mid-tier smartphone during the first half of 2021.
As of now, Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola are the only brands which are selling smartphones with foldable displays but OPPO and LG might compete with these brands with the launch of phones with rollable displays. As per the report, the LG’s Rollable phone will have a couple of advantages as compared to foldable phones. It is said to be thinner and lighter than foldable smartphones.
The currently available foldable phones show some kind of screen creasing problem but the rollable display will not have such an issue on the LG Rollable as mentioned in the report. Also, the screen of LG rollable can be expanded from 6.8-inch to 7.4-inch in size. A high ranking official from a telecom operator said that its product usability is far better than the foldable phones. It does not develop wrinkles or any sort of deformity when the screen is stretched.
Last month, OPPO became the first brand to display the OPPO X 2021 concept device as the world’s first rollable display phone. Now, since LG has been working on the rollable screen technology for a long time hence it might become the first company to launch a smartphone with a rollable display. As mentioned earlier, the LG Rollable might go official in the first half of 2021.
