Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 is finally here. The new flagship mobile platform from Qualcomm will power premium smartphones which are set to launch in 2021. Yesterday at the Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm clarified the list of OEM partners which will launch new devices based on this platform. Many top brands including ASUS, Black Shark, Motorola, LG, MEIZU, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, OPPO, Sharp and ZTE have confirmed their support officially. Samsung is not in this list but we can expect that it might incorporate the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 for Galaxy S21 series in selected markets.
Similarly there are rumours about OnePlus to launch its OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 earlier than usual. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Mobile World Congress will not take place in February 2021 hence smartphone makers can plan product launch on their own.
Whereas some of the smartphone manufacturers decided not to waste time in announcing their new smartphones which are based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Xiaomi, OPPO and Realme are racing in order to launch the first commercial smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 under the management.

-OPPO Find X3 series
-Motorola Moto G
Realme teased its new smartphone which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 even before the official launch of the processor. The company has now officially revealed that this device is given codename as “Race” and will launch during the first quarter of 2021. Realme X50 Pro 5G launched last year in February hence we can assume that this new phone will arrive next month or in February.
On one hand, Realme has confirmed the launch of a new device and on the other hand a leak has further put some light on key specifications of the new smartphone. GSMArena managed to get two images which show the rear design of the smartphone and key specifications. The leaked image also confirms that Realme Race will have a glass back design with circular camera module and an extended flash.
As of now, it is not clear whether this smartphone will have a triple or quad rear camera setup. Also, there is no information about integrating a 108-megapixel sensor for its flagship phone. Moreover, the “About Page” of the smartphone reveals RMX2202 will have 12GB of RAM and octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. It runs Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 and can be the most budget-friendly Snapdragon 888 smartphone.
Xiaomi Mi 11
Xiaomi achieved success in the premium flagship smartphone market with the launch of its Mi 10 series. Hence, without wasting much time the company confirms that Snapdragon 888 will have a global debut on Xiaomi Mi 11. During the Snapdragon Tech Summit, CEO of Xiaomi Lei Jun confirmed regarding the next device but no additional details were revealed by the company.
Xiaomi Mi 11 series might debut with Pro and non-Pro models wherein the Pro model will introduce major display enhancements over its predecessor according to a leak. It is rumoured to have a Quad HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate which will let the smartphone be a direct competitor to OnePlus 8 Pro and OPPO Find X2 Pro.
Xiaomi has not limited the 120Hz refresh rate to Full HD+ resolution ensuring a serious demonstration of power. Its display is also tipped to support MEMC, SDR-to-HDR AI upscaling among other features and we will get to know more in the upcoming weeks.
OPPO Find X3 series
OPPO also confirmed that its upcoming Find X series will be based on Snapdragon. The first teaser of the Find X3 series was seen during last month at OPPO INNO DAY 2020. Now we are sure about its debut during the first quarter of 2021. The Find X3 series will again focus to introduce huge enhancements to the display.
Also, the company revealed about the new colour management system last month with end-to-end 10-bit colour depth. This new colour management system will bring support for wide colour gamut. As per, OPPO it had to acquire a high specification algorithm and hardware in order to record wide colour gamut at the time of capture.
It will be needing a mobile platform like Snapdragon 888 to enable such support. It is expected that OPPO will offer at least 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage with the new smartphone. With the advantage of Qualcomm’s new image signal processor we can see improvements to the imaging system.
Motorola Moto G
Motorola has confirmed that it will launch its Moto G smartphone with Snapdragon 888. The Lenovo-owned smartphone maker made this announcement at Snapdragon Tech Summit. This is the first time that Motorola is introducing a flagship chipset to Moto G series. With the launch of this smartphone, Motorola can compete against Xiaomi Mi 11 and Realme Race in the mid-range premium price segment.
Motorola made a comeback to the premium smartphone segment last year with the launch of Motorola Edge smartphone. We can see the successor to Motorola Edge+ as well with Snapdragon 888. However, Motorola seems to be planning to not restrict the flagship SoC to just one product model.
