Oppo announced two new hardware products on Oppo Inno Day 2020, which took place at Shenzhen in China. These are the new Oppo X 2021, which is a rollable concept phone and a new pair of Oppo AR (Augmented Reality) Glasses 2021.
The biggest charming factor with this smartphone is that it doesn’t have a fixed display size. It can adjust between 6.7 and 7.4-inches in diagonal which will certainly excite the developers and users.
The display is 6.7-inches in its basic form. It uses Oppo’s continuously variable OLED display and in its extended state, the screen size enlarges to 7.4-inches with the help of a proprietary roll motor powertrain. The device has curved edges with a USB Type-C port and speaker grills at the bottom.
Oppo managed to achieve a zero-crease screen as the dual rolling motors underneath the display can retract and extend the display with equally distributed force on both halves.
This new smartphone also sports a dynamic frame that includes a fixed frame and a moving one placed on top. The 2-in-1 plate design with no segment gaps helps prevent the screen from collapsing, due to the presence of metal support layers underneath the panel.
Coming to the Oppo AR Glass 2021, the company mentions via its tweet that it will include a time of flight (ToF) sensor, Diffractive optical waveguide technology, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) algorithms, and gesture and voice navigation. The glasses will have a sleek design with the central area above the nose housing the sensors.
