Qualcomm has recently announced the company’s next generation 4G-enabled octa-core Mobile Platform – Snapdragon 678 processor. This latest Soc comes with some performance enhancement and is the successor of Snapdragon 675 which was announced back in 2018. Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 ensures to offer improved photography and connectivity.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 is built on an 11nm LLP process and similar to its predecessor but has improved Kryo 460 cores. It comes with 2 x Kryo 460 cores with clock speed of 2.2 GHz and 6 x Kryo 460 efficiency cores with clock speed of 1.7GHz. It features the same Adreno 612 GPU however Qualcomm ensures to give better graphics performance.
It supports full-HD+ display with 1080×2520 pixels screen resolution and up to 4K UHD external display. Qualcomm has also incorporated support for Qualcomm Aqstic audio technology, Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus technology and Qualcomm aptX.
The mobile platform also has Qualcomm Spectra 250L IPS which can handle dual-camera setups of up to 16-megapixel and single cameras of up to 48-megapixel. It can capture 4K video at 30fps and 1080p videos at up to 120fps and 720p videos at up to 240fps.
The latest SoC comprises Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 LTE modem which can provide highest download and upload speeds of 600Mbps and 150Mbps. It supports dual-SIM Dual VoLTE and other connectivity options consisting of dual-band Wi-Fi, Galileo,GLONASS, Beidou, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, QZSS and SBAS. The SoC also supports USB 3.1 with USB Type-C interface which means that it will not support 5G, next-gen Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
As of now, there is no information which device will come with Snapdragon 678 and when it will hit the market.
