Samsung announces 146-inch modular MicroLED TV and 85 inch 8K OLED TV

South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced its new range of TV during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018. Samsung introduced a huge 146 inch modular MicroLED TV – The Wall. It is announced alongside Q9S which is an 85 inch 8K OLED TV with AI technology. The Wall comes with a new MicroLED technology which delivers incredible definition without restricting size, resolution or form.

If we start with The Wall, it is a 146 inch modular TV which comes with a new MicroLED technology. This technology enables to deliver incredible definition without restricting size, resolution or form. It is a self-emitting TC micrometre (µm) scale LEDs which are much smaller than the current LEDs and serve as their own source of light. As per Company, this helps in eliminating the need for colour filters or backlight.

Samsung further added that the MicroLED screen stands out in durability and effectiveness. It includes glowing efficiency, the light source lifetime and power utilization setting the standard for future screen technology. Also, it is durable and features a module-based bezel-less design. The screen has the ability to adapt in order to serve different purposes such as creating a wall-size display for multiple spaces.

Q9s 85 inch 8K OLED TV with AI Technology

Samsung has also announced its first smart TV with highest 8K resolution and 8K AI technology. The latest AI technology allows content to automatically upscale images or content into 8K resolution unconcerned of native resolution or method of transmission.

The QLED TV based on AI technology is furnished with a database. This database studies and analyses millions of images in advance to transform low resolution content into high resolution content. With the help of this feature of the OLED TV, it selects the optimal filter and converts the source into a high-quality image when fed with a source in low resolution. This device classifies elements of picture quality like black/blooming/brightness in input sources by scene so that pictures can be produced with more richer and detailed contrast. With the help of this feature, the edges of text are rendered sharp and a moonlight image is offered with the edges of the moon in the background clear, not blurred.

Also, AI technology allows the TV’s sound to be optimized for specific scenes without changing any settings. As per Company, for example if you are watching a football game, the cheering of the audience is amplified in order to recreate the excitement of the match. Or, if you are watching a concert, the low frequency sounds of the music might be highlighted to deliver a richer sound.
