Samsung has launched a new 110-inch MicroLED TV which is available for pre-sale only in South Korea as of now which is the company’s home market. This new television differs from earlier super-sized TV options offered by Samsung since it is pre-fabricated and not modular hence it can be installed like any other TV. The TV features an Ultra-HD resolution HDR MicroLED screen and is the first mass produced television of this size which is incorporated with the new display technology. The TV is available at a massive price of KRW 170 million which is approx. Rs. 1.15 crores.
The television comprises MicroLED display technology which uses micrometre-sized LED lights to replace the need for backlights and colour filters. This is much similar to the functioning of OLED TVs but the use of millions of inorganic LED lights make sures that the typical brightness-related benefits of LED technology are maintained whereas the illumination and pixel structures lasts over many years.
Samsung has introduced this technology in recent years and the new launch indicates that the company is on its way to perfect the technology for mass production of smaller screen sizes as well. The Samsung 110-inch MicroLED television has Majestic Sound System implanted in it which delivers 5.1-channel surround sound directly from the TV itself. It also comes with Object Tracking Sound Pro which permits the sound to be projected to follow the on-screen movement of the objects.
A feature known as Multi View allows the users to split the 110-inch television into four separate viewing boxes at the same time and with all the sizes of up to 55 inches hence making good use of the massive size of the screen. The price and size of the screen makes this a niche product but Samsung should soon be able to produce MicroLED screens with smaller sizes.
The Samsung 110-inch MicroLED TV is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2021 globally and as of now the futuristic TV is available for pre-sale only in South Korea.
