Japanese tech giant Sony has announced the first good news of 2020 for Indian gamers. The brand on Friday confirmed that PlayStation 5 will be rolled out in India on 2nd February. Pre-orders for the latest gaming console begin on 12th January. Gamers who are interested in its purchase can pre-order the PlayStation 5 from a number of retailers including Amazon India, Flipkart, Reliance Digital, Croma, Sony Center, Vijay Sales, Games the Shop and authorized retail partners.
PlayStation 5 carries a price tag of Rs. 49,990 for the Indian market. The digital version of the gaming console will be offered at Rs. 39,990.
PlayStation 5 was announced last year back in June 2020 and was rolled out in November 2020 in select markets. Indian fans have been highly disappointed as the India launch details weren’t revealed. The company hinted that the delay in India’s rollout is due to the local import regulations but there was no clear statement from the brand.
Gaming is well liked in India but it is yet not a big market for gaming consoles. Most people in India still choose to play games on mobile phones and PC. Now when youngsters are seeing a good career in e-sports, gaming marketing is expanding. Clearly more people in India now can afford gaming consoles. So, Sony can experience a good response from gamers to this next-gen gaming console. Microsoft seems unable to meet the demand for the next Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles in India. This shows how people have turned to console gaming in India.
