Popular short video-sharing app TikTok has revealed on Monday it had made a partnership with Sony Music Entertainment to give an opportunity to enjoy Sony-tagged songs. This deal will give access to all Tiktok users, to Sony’s music library including global artists such as Martin Garrix, Beyonce, and Harry Styles.

Sony Music can also make use of TikTok’s platform (where emerging artists have gathered fans quickly and home to several viral internet trends) to promote its artists.

TikTok has been working towards making new deals with the major record groups since it gained immense popularity to ensure that it doesn’t lose some of the world’s top songs, and this seems to be the first deal signed now.

Sony and its labels have had some huge wins, credit goes to TikTok. Lil Nas X, whose song “Old Town Road” exploded with popularity on the app, is signed to Columbia, a Sony label. And Jason Derulo’s “Savage Love,” which is unavoidable both on the app and in various physical locations was also released via Columbia.
