The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) rolled out the official application for Aadhaar card holders known as mAadhaar last year. The app is currently available for all Android users and one can simply download it from Google Play Store. However, Now UIDAI has revealed that it will bring the app to the iOS platform also.
Ajay Bhushan Pandey (UIDAI’s CEO ) shared confirmation on this news on Twitter during an AMA session held on January 28, 2018, on the occasion of Data Privacy Day. He uttered that “mAadhaar for iOS is going to be out soon.” However, he has not shared when exactly UIDAI will bring the application to its iOS platform.
The application will enable its users to store their Aadhaar card virtually. The app carries demographic information like name, gender, date of birth, and user’s photograph that is linked with his/her Aadhaar number. The app has a strong biometric locking/unlocking system and once the user enables it, his/her biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar holder chose to Disable the Locking system.
Further, there is TOTP (Time-based one-time password), which is automatically generated as a temporary password, which can be used instead of SMS-based OTP. Also, users can update their profiles too after successful completion of the request. The working of the app is pretty simple.
You need to go and download the application from Google Play Store. Once you open the app, it will ask you for your Aadhaar number. One can also scan the QR code present on your Aadhaar card. The app will then send an OTP number to your registered number for verification.
