Vivo is reportedly replacing Funtouch OS with a new custom skin called Origin OS. Vivo has confirmed officially via its official WeChat account that it will soon launch Origin OS. As of now, the exact date for launch is now known but Vivo will brief more about this new customer skin during its 2020 Vivo developer conference which will be held on November 19. This conference will take place in Shenzhen and its main focus will be the new OS, IoT, apps, games and several other topics.
Previously, it was reported that Vivo will possibly replace Funtouch OS with a new custom skin but now, this has been confirmed by Chinese tech giant officially. The new custom skin – Origin OS is based on Android and is made as a complete renovation of the existing Funtouch OS. Vivo also announced it through a Chinese microblogging website, Weibo.
The Vivo Developer Conference 2020 will focus on several different topics which includes apps, games, business cooperation, IoT, technology and the new OS. Unfortunately, there is not much information currently available regarding the new custom skin but as per the reports, it has been confirmed as a remake of Funtouch which might launch with the Vivo X60 series.
Recently, Vivo performed very poorly in research firm Counterpoint’s trust ranking for 2020. According to their reports, only 24 percent Vivo phones were sold between the periods Q3 2019 to Q2 2020 and were updated to Android 10 version. A huge percentage of phones are still with Android 9 Pie version and a notable chunk is stuck with Android Oreo version. The company was also exclaimed for being inconsistent with their security stains as well.
