With the new Dimensity chipset, MediaTek aims to put 5G in mid-range smartphones

*MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G chipset officially announced.

Dimensity 700 5G chipset based on a 7nm process, officially announced by MediaTek on Tuesday. The new Dimensity 700 chipset is an even more affordable 5G processor as the chipmaker targets to make 5G accessible to all. In addition to 5G support, the Dimensity 700 includes support for 90Hz display, up to 64MP cameras, and multiple voice assistants as well. 

The MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset supports Dual 5G SIM and 5G Carrier Aggregation (2CC 5G-CA). The Dimensity 700 chipset is a 7nm process-based chipset and comprises 2 Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor is also equipped with the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950MHz and LPDDR4X.

The first phones to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset are expected to launch early in 2021. MediaTek recently shared that Dimensity-powered phones will be launching in India next year with an aim to make 5G phones more accessible to everyone. The Realme X7 series is likely to be the first smartphone series to bring the Dimensity chipset to the Indian smartphone market as it is expected to roll out later this month or in December.
