Xiaomi teases launch of a new 4K QLED TV in India, may be Mi TV 5 Pro

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is gearing up to expand its television product portfolio in the Indian television and audio market. In a new post on Mi India’s Twitter profile, Xiaomi India has confirmed that it will launch a new 4K QLED TV in the Indian home entertainment market on December 16. 

The tweet reads, “Mi Fans, an all new TV experience awaits. #MiQLEDTV4K #QuantumLeapsAhead – December 16th,12 Noon – Stay Tuned.”

Although Xiaomi India has not specified any product name or the model number of the upcoming TV, this seems to be the quantum-dot LED display-built Mi TV 5 Pro, which was launched in China last year. 

With the launch of Mi TV 5 Pro, Xiaomi may enter the premium television segment in India. Currently, the brand offers HD, FHD and 4K TVs in the Indian market.

Mi TV 5 Pro Series Price and Specifications

The Mi TV 5 Pro series have a standard and Pro models and both are available in three screen sizes – 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch. The televisions features a screw less design with an aluminium build and bezel less display. All of the three sizes feature a Quantum Dot QLED display panel which supports 8K video playback, MEMC motion compensation, HDR10+ and 108 percent NTSC colour gamut. The TVs come equipped with two 8W speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS HD sound. If you are not aware of this, QLED TVs feature a quantum dot layer that is said to offer more improved and better picture performance in terms of brightness and colours. 

The Mi TV 5 Pro series is powered by a Quad-core Cortex A55 processor. The standard model comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB on-board storage while the Pro model comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB on-board storage. They run on Xiaomi’s PatchWall user interface as usual. On the connectivity front, TVs include WiFI, 3 HDMI ports, Bluetooth, Infrared, 2 USB ports and an Ethernet port. 

The Mi TV 5 is now available for purchase in China with a starting price of RMB 2999 which is approx. Rs. 30,200 and goes up to RMB 7999 which is approx. Rs. 80,700 for the highest variant of standard model. The Pro variant bears a starting price of RMB 3699 which is approx. Rs. 37,300 and goes up to RMB 9999 which is approx. Rs. 1,00,900 for the highest variant.
