Xiaomi may launch three new foldable smartphones in the coming year. Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), shared the rumored development via Twitter. Apart from Xiaomi, other brands like Oppo and Samsung might also be working on foldable smartphones.
Young has said that Xiaomi will roll out three new foldable devices in 2021. He has also claimed that the upcoming foldable phone to come in the market could be from Xiaomi. He also shared that the brand is expected to launch foldable phones with designs such as out-folding, an in-folding, and a clamshell. He has signaled that there is a possibility that the out-folding device may sport a display of around 8 inches.
This is not the first time we have got to hear about a foldable phone from Xiaomi. We had read a report by XDA Developers talking about a foldable Xiaomi device codenamed “Cetus” earlier this year. The publication had found proof for the device in the MIUI 12 beta. It has also claimed that the device will be powered by a Snapdragon chipset and house a 108-megapixel camera. As of now, no more detail about “Cetus” is available. But, we anticipate that the device will roll out early next year, and more details coming out in the upcoming few weeks.
